'Please Someone Help.. I Want To Cry. My mothers doctor blatantly lied >> see below?
My mother went to see her doctor two months ago.She complained of chest pain and asked for an EKG. The doctor told her that her Medicare would not cover her EKG.I called today and they told me it does. My mother was short of breath today. She has lung cancer, asthma, emphysema. No longer smokes and is in stable condition for her cancer. The doctor did not give or offer a chest X ray.
The doctor typed his visit with her in the computer.Does not read it back and does not print it out.
My mother has had many mistakes on her medical records. They said she had breast cancer and she didn't .Said she lived alone and she lives with me. She had to make many changes to her medical records before. Now..they are trying to cover up for the doctor. The business manager would not give me her managers name. She was extremely......rude to me and adult. She was saying the doctor denied she said she had chest pain and asked for the EKG.He also denied he never said Medicare woudn't pay and pay doesn't matter to him??????Every time I went to a doctor pay matters to them. He blatantly lied.

I asked if she could submit a notarized letter with her version of the last visit on there. She told me no.She would not give me the name of her supervisor and told me I should come with her the next time..But..said the doctor would not print out or re read the input of her information into the computer.I had to call her before about problems and she is blaming my mother and not the doctor.I don't know what I can do to protect her.I am the out spoken one she is not.I was also told if I come and make scene I will be escorted out. Please Help Me. I rated the doctor a poor rating..and put in the BBB. Should she send a notarized letter about her last visit to keep on file? Or will they even? I feel there are no patient rights? Could I call HIPPA? What can we do? We live in a super conservative state. I called one only one attorney and was told by the Paralegal that the doctors win over the patients in courts here even if the patient is in the right and the doctor is not. Yet...there are Medical Attorneys still in business.I just don't want something to happen to her and its the negligence of this doctor..and they are obviously covering for the doctors negligence and mistakes and lies. Please....Please..Help Us.

Thank You

It sounds like we are only getting your mother's version of events. The doctor has his own version and it will all come down to he said v.she said.

It's unclear what you are trying to achieve here?If you feel he was negligent, then the only way you would get anything from a lawsuit is if your mother actually suffered some physical harm from his negligence.

Not sure what you think HIPAA could do in this instance.

She should switch doctors if you both feel he isnt' giving her the care she needs.

Zaza
I feel sorry for your mother, (and you) but come on!The doctor did not force your mother to smoke for years, and certainly did not cause her to get emphysema, asthma or lung cancer.

This is why health care is so expensive in the USA, why fewer people are going into the medical field and certainly a great example of how poor government health care would be.

Make your mother as comfortable as possible and move on.

Guess Who
Have you ever heard of HIPAA?If your mother hasn't given your medical POA.then the doctors cannot share her medical info with you.The doctor only has the info that your mother gave them.If she told them that she lives alone, then that is what they have to go by.
It seems like your mother has several different medical problems.Medicare only pays for a certain number of EKGs and X-rays during a set period.Razor's Edge You could also call the Medical Board of licensure.Call HIPPA (don't) delay they could give you some direction.Name, Date, and time and what actually occurred.

Be sure to save the statement from that attorney's paralegal. Name, date, time and exact quotes
Maintain notes on your experience so that you can recall everything when you talk with HIPPA or whomever they will direct you to.
Call your mother's insurance carrier. Be prepared to give name date and time of this occurrence and the people involved.Plus as much information as possible.Be sure to tell HIPPA about the statement. Always take notes when talking with the doctor or his office help.
