4 Step Guide to Build Basketball Backboard

Basketball is relatively inexpensive to play. All you need is a basketball and a hoop.If you don't have access to a public basketball court, you can make your own at home, by building a basketball backboard.
Step 1
Find a place to mount the goal. This may be on a pole or on the side of a long wall.If you choose a wall, it must be at least 15 feet tall.Although basketball hoops sit 10 feet off the ground, allow for extra room so the top of the backboard sits firm against the wall.
Step 2
Cut the backboard.A typical backboard is 48 inches wide and 36 inches tall. This provides a large target for shooters, as well as a backboard for shots that are slightly off.Mark the dimensions on the plywood, Plexigla*s, or plastic with a pencil.Carefully run the board through a table saw.
Step 3
Paint a white square on the backboard. This will serve as a target when shooting bank shots.Measure a 12 by 12 inch square in the center, with the bottom of the square at the top of the hoop.
Step 4
Drill four h*les into the mount where you plan to attach the basketball backboard. The h*les should be as even as possible.Use screws to secure the backboard to the mount.Keep it level and secure.
Tips and Warnings
Plywood is a popular choice of material for basketball backboards due to its low cost and availability.Plexigla*s and plastic are also popular choices.Regardless of the material that you choose, it must be sturdy enough to support the hoop and basketball as well as stand up to weather conditions.
