Armenia will take part in the Rio+20 Summit on environmental protection and sustainable development to take place Rio De Janeiro on 24 August 2012, the Foreign Ministry reported.
The decision was made on Wednesday, at the first meeting of the national commission that coordinates the preparations of Armenia’s participation in this summit.The session was headed by Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and Aram Harutyunyan, the minister of nature protection.
The session was also attended by representatives of interested parties and non-governmental organizations.
Nalbandian and Harutyunyan both made a speech, focusing on developments taking place in the framework of the Rio+20, as well as the challenges Armenia will face in that context.
